HOW TO CREATE A GREAT IMPRESSION ON EVERY PAGE OF YOUR WEBSITE

Every page of your website should act as a homepage.

Why? Because visitors don’t always come to your website through your home page. Maybe they land on your website from your Instagram, or a blog post shared on Facebook. Or maybe, someone just googled in “Wedding photographer in Colombo” and your About Page link was displayed in the first Google results page.

No matter how someone finds your website, what’s important is what they do when they get there.

SO MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION ON EVERY PAGE OF YOUR WEBSITE.

It’s crucial to your online business. All the pages on your website have to be given the same amount of attention and effort. If you focus all of your energy on making a knock-out homepage while the rest of your pages are only shrug-worthy, visitors might head for the exit button.

Remember, your user’s journey could start on any page.

Now that I don’t sound like someone who had too many cups of cocoa and talking nonsense, and you’re ready to hear me out;

How can you ensure you’ve created a great impression for every visitor entering your website?

01 / / INVEST IN A USER EXPERIENCE FOCUSED WEB DESIGN

I know, we all like pretty things, but what’s the point of a beautiful website if visitors don’t stay there long enough? Keep it simple. Don’t create a maze and confuse your visitors.

I’m creating an arsenal of rad web designers, so if you’re one let’s chat.

02 / / INVEST IN PROFESSIONAL COPYWRITING

No kidding. A copywriter telling you to invest in professional website copywriting? Haha. But hear me out.

Website copywriting isn’t like any other copywriting. It’s got to be strategic, intentional and keep the visitor in mind at all times. You have to be able to convince your visitor to keep taking that next step until they decide to click on that purchase button. Also remember, content writing is very different to copywriting. So do your research first.

03 / / ASK FOR FEEDBACK

It really is amazing. You can learn so much when you simply ask for feedback. Create a quick online survey using Google Forms or Survey Monkey. Ask questions like “how would you rate the user experience of my blog/website?” or open-ended questions such as “ if you could change one thing on my contact page, it would be…”. This is a great way to get customer feedback and show how much you care about your audience by customising your website to them.

If you don’t have time for a survey, look at the questions customers ask you when they reach out to you, before they make a purchase. Whether via email or social media. Are you not addressing those on your website? Is it not clear?

The more people look like heart-eyed emojis when they visit your site, the more likely they are to become a regular.
